Charity FUN DOG SHOW in aid of Canine Partners

We have raised £2,012 over the last 3 years and we are hoping that we can do well again this year with everyone’s support. We had a glorious day last year with our scurry, Hoopers test and Obedience test as well as all of the fun dog classes that our judge had a wonderful and very hard time in judging. Our local scouts group provided a very tasty bbq. There were a lovely range of craft stalls, charity stalls and a few local dog business came along too. There was a lovely atmosphere as people sat around the ring chatting, watching the judging and enjoying the afternoon.

About the charity

We chose Canine Partners charity for our first dog show because we wanted to support a charity that had a local connection to someone we knew. Canine Partners support our show with lots of volunteers and dogs in training. We are thrilled and touched by how they support our efforts to help raise monies for the charity.

We were invited to a Talk and Demonstration to learn more about the work that Canine Partners do. We enjoyed a demonstration by some of the dogs to see a few of the amazing everyday tasks they can do. Then one lady spoke of her experience in front of the gathered audience and explained the difference that a Canine Partners dog had made to her life after her legs were crushed by a car in a supermarket car park, changing her life completely in just a few seconds. This lady ran her own business and had young children. A Canine Partners dog gave her the ability to be an independent woman again, it enabled her to do daily tasks and more than that it made her visible to the outside world. When she was being pushed in her wheelchair she felt invisible, but with a dog at her side she felt she had regained her identity. This lady had a profound effect on us and is the reason we are supporting Canine Partners again this year so that they can continue to do their valuable work to help someone else regain their independence.

Canine Partners is a registered charity that transforms the lives of people with physical disabilities by partnering them with assistance dogs. Their amazing dogs bring a greater independence and quality of life to their partners, offering security, companionship, and practical help with everyday household tasks. These life-changing dogs also provide psychological and social benefits including increased independence, confidence, social interaction and self-esteem. Canine Partners receive no government funding and rely solely on donations from the public and legacies to help them continue their life-transforming work.
