Oakington Dog Day Care Centre are proud to offer our Puppy Training Course.  We would all love to have a perfectly obedient puppy, who is happy and confident in the world, but sometimes life gets in the way and it can be hard to keep up regular training sessions and socialisation. We have all been there, watching in exasperation as our puppy misbehaves, not knowing which way to turn to improve their behaviour. We are here to help you train the perfect puppy, and take the stress out of training!

We only use positive reinforcement to ensure that all of our puppies learn in a fun and friendly way whilst training. Using the full facilities of day care and lots of yummy treats, gives puppies mental and physical stimulation whilst training, making sure the learning sticks! Our Puppy Training Course is great for all those little treasures that would like some extra time and attention to learn some useful skills and basic manners! Our tailored Puppy Training Course is the next step on your puppy’s journey to being a perfectly behaved pooch!  Our 6 week programme is great for expanding on their manners and knowledge of good behaviour, and will help you to perfect commands such as sit, down, stay, stand, leave and watch.  We will also introduce good lead manners and practice puppy recall coming to a nice sit in front of you.  To help them on their training journey, we will teach them the clicker to help mark good behaviour, and make their training sessions fun and interesting! 

 

To begin your puppy's journey to success, we do a simple assessment on your puppy, to see where they currently are with their training. This helps us understand their current skill level, as well as how well they can focus on tasks that are asked of them. This is also a great way to introduce the clicker to your puppy: each command that they get correct they will get a click noise (to mark the good behaviour) and a tasty treat (or a fun toy) as a reward to allow them to build up familiarisation with the meaning of the clicker. You will also receive a clicker to continue your training at home, and a dedicated member of our team will take you through each step of using the clicker correctly. Every week you will receive a progress report so you can read all about what your puppy has achieved. This will include detailed descriptions of how to continue your training at home, as well as homework to help you progress.
