Oakington Dog Day Care Centre is an exceptional Dog Daycare in Cambridge. We are a friendly bunch who are passionate about the dogs in our care and ensuring they have a great time with us in a safe controlled environment.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Working in a small dedicated professional team the successful applicant will provide the dogs in our care with a good experience, with an emphasis on their social well-being.  They will ensure that all the dogs have a fun and enriching time at the Day Care Centre, taking direction from team members and management.  They will ensure that company procedures and policies are followed especially Health & Safety for themselves, the team and the dogs in our care.

Roles and Responsibilities

Meeting with clients who are dropping off or picking up their dogs
Documenting client instructions, medications applications, and dropped off items;
Accurate record keeping
Supervising dogs while playing and resting;
Carry out inductions and complete accurate records. 
Clean up dog waste and dispose of in dedicated bins.
Assisting in cleaning all areas of the centre, including staff areas, maintaining a sanitary environment throughout the centre; 
Ensuring that all equipment, including toys, are clean and well-maintained
Feeding dogs by ensuring both food and medication are administered at prescribed times and
in prescribed ways;
Maintaining watering dog bowls throughout day and prior to end of shift;
Other duties as assigned

Ability to:

Provide the dogs with a good experience, with an emphasis on their social well-being.
Ensure that all dogs have a fun and enriching time at the Day Care Centre;
Be comfortable working with a large group of dogs of a variety of sizes, personalities, and play styles;
Monitor dogs and take care of dogs in large play groups;
Read and respond proactively to dog body language;
Anticipate if problems between dogs may occur and prevent them from happening in a safe and positive manner;
You must be able to think fast and remain calm in any situation to ensure the safety of all of the dogs at all times.
Happy to work outdoors in all weathers
Must be sociable, enthusiastic and confident working within a small team
Track any behavior issues and detail general behavior for individual dogs;
Remain calm and effective and be able to move and react quickly when required;
Know and be able to communicate effectively about all the services provided by the Day Care Centre;
Maintain required attendance level and adhere to work schedule;
Follow appropriate safety procedures;
Be on your feet for a lot of the day/shift;
Assist in lilting and handling large dogs
Provide excellent customer service
Work independently as well as being part of the team

 

Qualifications and Education Requirements

Secondary education (required)
Level 3 certificate or diploma in Animal Care (or equivalent)
Canine First Aid certificate
An experienced dog handler/owner
Experience of working with dogs is essential
Enjoy working with all types of dogs
Be comfortable in a large group of dogs of all sizes
Positive attitude and a positive work ethic
Reliable and punctual, we have to meet correct staff to dog ratios so timekeeping and attendance are vitally important.
Honest and trustworthy
Good clear written and verbal communication
Experience to demonstrate the abilities and skills needed for this job description.

Preferred Education
Dog behavioral or Dog training qualification or significant experience
